“CMT Giants: Alabama” to Showcase Country Music Hall of Fame Band’s Legacy with Star-Studded Tribute

Country music powerhouse Alabama, a staple for five decades, will be honored in a star-studded tribute, “CMT Giants: Alabama,” announced by CMT. The two-hour television special, set to air later this year, will feature an assembly of country music’s biggest names at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville.

Notable stars such as Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Evander Holyfield, Jason Aldean, Jamey Johnson, Lionel Richie, Little Big Town, Lorrie Morgan, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride, Old Dominion, Pam Tillis, Riley Green, Sam Hunt, and Vince Gill will gather to pay homage to Alabama. The special will include performances by Shelton with Wariner, Paisley, Johnson, Aldean, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Tillis, Morgan, Green, and Hunt, featuring renditions of Alabama’s greatest hits.

In addition to live performances, Holyfield, Richie, Bryan, McBride, Gill, and others will contribute virtually and in person, sharing stories about Alabama and its significant impact on country music. The program will also feature a new interview with Alabama’s Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry, allowing the band members to reflect on their illustrious career.

Known for chart-topping hits like “Mountain Music,” “Dixieland Delight,” and “If You’re Gonna Play In Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band),” Alabama has sold 80 million albums and holds the record for 43 No.1 hits, making them the most successful band in country music history. The special takes on added significance following the passing of Alabama co-founder Jeff Cook in November 2022 due to Parkinson’s disease.

“CMT Giants: Alabama” is executive produced by CMT’s Margaret Comeaux and Taillight’s Tom Forrest, with Jackie Barba and Heather D. Graffagnino as Executives in Charge of Production. Leslie Fram serves as Executive in Charge of Talent, while Suzanne Bender and Donna Duncan are Talent Producers.
