In her latest song and video, “Wine Country,” Hannah Ellis puts a fresh twist on the well-known phrase. The video was filmed at Chappellet Winery in Helena, California, highlighting the country aspect of “wine country.”

During the video shoot, the Curb Records artist can be seen enjoying the winery fields while incorporating references to Ford trucks. A memorable moment from the shoot was when Ellis faced a challenge while filming the brunch scene on Pritchard Hill at Chappellet Winery.

She recounted the incident, saying, “I was wearing these tall sharp stiletto heels, and I couldn’t walk down the gravel path to the table. Then I tried going barefoot, but the rocks were too sharp. Blakesley Chappellet, one of the vineyard owners, came to my aid and kindly gave me her socks so that I could walk across the gravel. It was such a sweet and generous gesture.”

The song “Wine Country” was co-written by Hannah Ellis, Clint Lagerburg, and Nick Wayne. Lagerburg and Jason Massey took on the production of the song, while Tony Gates directed and produced the accompanying video. The production company responsible for the video was Forefront Studios, LLC.

Ellis expressed her enjoyment of the video’s concept, noting the incorporation of a “Real Housewives” energy while keeping it grounded in country style. She drew inspiration from light-hearted videos of the 90s that told different stories and had playful themes, which she felt complemented the song’s personality.

The message Ellis hopes to convey through the video is that life is not about choosing between one thing or another but embracing the idea of “this AND that.” She embraces both her bougie and backroads sides, emphasizing that one doesn’t have to limit themselves to a single lane but can explore all aspects.

The video left Ellis feeling grateful and excited, as she appreciated the opportunity to see everyone’s ideas come to life. She praised director Tony for his positive presence on set and the genuine enjoyment displayed by everyone involved in making the video. The final product surpassed her expectations when she first saw it.

Ellis, a native of Campbellsville, Kentucky, embodies the bougie backroads vibe authentically. She describes herself as a combination of favorite flannel, sparkling pink wine, and a warm welcome. With almost 40 million career streams, she has collaborated with various artists in writing or performing, such as Russell Dickerson, Carly Pearce, FOR KING + COUNTRY, Emily Weisband, Cassadee Pope, Filmore, and Sidewalk Prophets. Ellis has toured as part of the CMT “Next Women of Country” Tour and is recognized as one of the “CMT LISTEN UP” artists to watch for in 2023.
