The country sensation and Latin pop icon are gearing up for the release of their joint single on February 22nd.

A surprising yet highly anticipated collaboration is in the works between a country music icon and a Latin pop sensation.

Miranda Lambert, aged 40, and Enrique Iglesias, aged 48, delighted fans with the announcement of their upcoming duet titled “Space in My Heart.” Taking to social media on Monday, the duo revealed that the eagerly awaited track is scheduled for release on February 22nd.

Both Lambert and Iglesias teased the project by sharing a snippet of the unreleased song along with the single’s artwork on Instagram. The artwork features a captivating black-and-white photo of the two artists, with Lambert casting a contemplative gaze downward while Iglesias confidently meets the camera’s lens.

The country star also took to her Instagram Story to express her excitement about the upcoming release. “Texas meets Spain! 🤠,” she wrote atop the single artwork, alluding to her Texas roots and Iglesias’s Spanish heritage.

“Can’t wait for y’all to hear this one,” she added enthusiastically.

The snippet of audio shared by the two Grammy winners hints at “Space in My Heart” being a heartfelt, romantic ballad about longing. “You don’t love me yet / But I know you will / If you only felt / Half of what I feel / If you ever go / I will never change / There’s a space in my heart / And it’s just your shape,” they harmonize in the teaser.

The song appears to blend elements from both of their musical styles, featuring the gentle strumming of an acoustic guitar and allowing Lambert’s country twang and Iglesias’s smooth vocals to complement each other perfectly.

“Space in My Heart” represents the inaugural collaboration between these esteemed singer-songwriters. At present, it remains uncertain whether the single will be a standalone release or part of a broader project, such as Iglesias’ highly anticipated Final Vol. 2.

“Space in My Heart” marks Lambert’s first release of the year, following her collaboration with Leon Bridges on “If You Were Mine,” which debuted in June 2023. This release came shortly after Lambert announced her departure from her longtime record label, Sony Music Nashville, in March of the same year, after a 19-year partnership.

In a heartfelt Instagram post at the time, the CMA Award winner expressed gratitude for her time with Sony Music Nashville and acknowledged the opportunities they provided. However, she emphasized her need to continually seek new challenges and avenues for creative expression. Lambert wrote, “I’m so thankful for our time together and everything they made possible for me, yet I wouldn’t be true to myself if I wasn’t constantly looking for the next challenge and a new way to stretch my creativity. With that in mind, I’ve decided to say goodbye to my Sony family. I can’t wait to see what the next adventure holds.”

Regarding the “Bailando” artist, Enrique Iglesias recently unveiled “Fría” featuring Cuban singer Yotuel, a track slated to be part of his forthcoming album Final (Vol. 2). This album marks a significant milestone for the Spanish superstar as it is set to be his final full-length release. Iglesias had previously launched the first segment of the project, Final (Vol. 1), back in 2021.

Although confirming that Final (Vol. 2) will be his last album, Iglesias clarified in a 2021 interview with PEOPLE that this decision doesn’t equate to retirement. “It means that it’s the last album that I’m gonna make,” the “Hero” singer elucidated. “That doesn’t mean I’m retiring — a lot of people have asked me, are you gonna retire?” He emphasized his ongoing commitment to songwriting but expressed a shift away from regular album releases.

While an official release date for Final (Vol. 2) has yet to be announced, Iglesias hinted in a November 2023 interview with TODAY that he aimed for a February 2024 launch.
